Santa Maria degli Angeli

Here is a neat church that we visited about a week ago. It was originally part of a bath complex from about AD 300. This dome part was from the bath. In 1561, Michaelangelo was hired to convert part of it into a church. It is a huge church with very high ceilings.



Another interesting thing about this church is that it was renovated in the 18th century and turned a quarter turn. That means that the nave became the transept. (These are the two parts of the church that make it into a cross shape.) It was neat to see.
